About the Role:
The Hospital Safety Officer will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff at D-H Lebanon-MHMH. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Patrol all areas of the assigned facility to identify potential security risks and take proactive measures to prevent incidents.
- Provide information, assistance, and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff as needed, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
- Investigate security incidents, documenting all activities and ensuring accurate records.
- Collaborate with nursing units, clinical care areas, and other departments to address uncooperative, combative, or violent patients and visitors, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
- Effectively de-escalate situations using appropriate techniques and provide patient watch activities to prevent elopement or injury.
- Apply restraints at the direction of medical staff and contact local law enforcement as necessary, adhering to established protocols.
- Deal with custody disputes and domestic disturbances occurring on campus, ensuring a calm and peaceful resolution.
- Conduct patient and visitor searches when required and room and belonging searches as needed, respecting patient confidentiality and dignity.
- Respond to emergencies and code calls, performing CPR and utilizing AEDs as necessary, saving lives when possible.
- Monitor parking lots for compliance with facility regulations, issuing tickets for unauthorized parked vehicles and addressing safety hazards, promoting a secure environment.
- Enforce company policies as directed by a supervisor, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
- Assist with parking space management and utilization, rearranging barricades for organizational needs and special events, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Support DHART with helicopter arrivals and departures, releasing deceased patients and accepting incoming deceased patients, handling sensitive situations with compassion and respect.
- Complete all required forms, reports, and documents, including those related to secondary duties, maintaining accurate records and meeting regulatory requirements.
- Respond to duress alarms, calls for service, and other emergency situations, providing prompt and effective assistance.
