We are seeking a CNC Milling Machine Operator to join our machining team. The right candidate will have hands-on CNC milling experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-precision parts that meet strict aerospace and defense standards.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Production
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling machines to produce aerospace/defense components.
- Load raw material, install tooling, and perform offsets and adjustments as needed.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring tools to verify part quality.
- Work with the engineering team to ensure proper execution of machining programs (G-code, CAM outputs).
- Maintain accurate production records, traveler documentation, and quality checks per company and contract requirements.
- Support continuous improvement efforts on machining processes, tooling selection, and machine efficiency.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow established work instructions and adhere to military and aerospace standards.
- Ensure parts meet tolerances and specifications required by government contracts.
- Assist in first article inspections (FAI) and documentation for government and DCMA review.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other quality requirements.
- Uphold safety procedures and proper machine maintenance to ensure shop readiness.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience operating CNC milling machines (Haas, Doosan, or similar).
- Ability to set up and adjust tooling, fixtures, and work offsets independently.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
- Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.).
- Experience with G-code editing and CAM software preferred (Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.).
- Understanding of tight tolerance machining for aerospace/defense parts.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for job tracking is a plus (experience with M1 ERP a bonus).
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small business environment.
