Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and assist with appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Patient Now, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Manage patient intake processes including data entry, updating medical histories, and reviewing documentation for accuracy
- Handle medical billing and collections efficiently by submitting claims via HIPAA-compliant procedures and following up on unpaid accounts
- Maintain accurate medical records, organize files, and manage electronic health information using systems like EHR (Electronic Health Record)
- Answer phone with professional phone etiquette, schedule appointments, and coordinate care plans with healthcare providers
- Support clinical staff by preparing exam rooms, assisting with patient documentation review, and managing office supplies to ensure a seamless clinic experience
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including patient Now, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with health information management standards
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both English and bilingual settings
- Experience with insurance verification processes for Medicare and private insurers; familiarity with dental terminology is a plus for dental clinic environments
- Skilled in clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), appointment scheduling, and managing multi-line phone systems
- Competent in using Microsoft Office applications for documentation purposes; capable of handling hospital or clinic administrative support duties efficiently
