Tree Climber/Groundsman

D&D Tree Service is located here in Cedar Rapids Iowa. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Tree Climber and groundsman to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for tree care and landscape maintenance, along with the ability to work safely and efficiently at heights. This role involves climbing trees to perform various tasks such as trimming, pruning, and maintaining the health of trees in residential and commercial settings. A strong understanding of tree care practices and equipment operation is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using appropriate safety gear and techniques to perform trimming and pruning tasks.
• Operate bucket trucks and other equipment safely to access high branches.
• Assess tree health and identify issues such as disease or pest infestations.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Collaborate with team members to execute landscape maintenance projects effectively.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about services performed.
• Maintain a clean work area by disposing of debris and ensuring job sites are left tidy.

Skills

• Experience in lawn care and landscape maintenance is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in tree trimming techniques and knowledge of tree care best practices.
• Familiarity with rigging techniques for safe branch removal.
• Ability to operate a bucket truck safely and efficiently.
• Understanding of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for mapping tree locations may be beneficial.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to work at heights without fear.
• Excellent teamwork skills, with a focus on safety and communication.
