Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on various fleet vehicles and heavy equipment using schematics and electrical testing tools.
- Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, air brakes, HVAC systems, and other mechanical components.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to repair or modify equipment as needed.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform automotive diagnostics to identify issues quickly and accurately.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as tire service, wheel alignments, fluid changes, and equipment lubrication to extend vehicle lifespan.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using cranes or forklifts; support assembly or disassembly of complex machinery or vehicle components.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in heavy equipment operation and automotive repair.
- Dealership experience is highly desirable for familiarity with OEM standards and advanced diagnostics.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams; ability to interpret complex technical information.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding (including MIG/TIG), soldering, and metalworking techniques.
- Knowledge of tractor-trailers.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, service tech equipment, and maintenance machinery.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; physically capable of working in various environmental conditions.
- Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and support operational needs.
