General Summary:
The Facilities Technician is integral to successful biologics manufacturing and product safety. The Facilities technician maintains, calibrates, and operates equipment and utilities in an FDA-regulated environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes all scheduled maintenance and calibration activities on time. Each month evaluates assigned workload and manages time to complete the work (ex. ordering/gathering supplies, coordinating with other departments for equipment availability, etc.).
- Ensures documentation of all activities is completed in compliance with company procedures.
- Follows all internal procedures and OSHA safety regulations.
- Responds to equipment alarms and maintenance requests.
- Keeps all training records current.
- Maintains a positive attitude and is solution-minded when faced with challenges.
- Reliable attendance, which will include work during both normal business hours and work during after-hours/weekend “on-call” rotations.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and/or trade school or apprenticeship completion. cGMP experience is a major plus but is not required.
- Must be able to follow procedures and perform duties as assigned, on time, and with a positive attitude.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic hand tools.
- The ability to use computerized systems for record generation and communication is a must.
- Attention to detail is very important and strong organizational skills are required.
- Need to be motivated, self-started, and possess the ability to work unsupervised.
- Must stay within 1 hour of the facility during on-call rotations.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
The performance of this position will require exposure to various environmental conditions. Some examples include clean room applications, mechanical rooms, offices, warehouses, inside, and outside. In addition, this position will work with or around steam, hot water, caustic and acidic chemicals, high and low voltages, on ladders, and any other environment that would normally be associated with a skilled trades position.
