Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in New York, NY, for a Sweater Design Assistant. The role includes supporting the design team in developing sweater concepts, assisting with technical sketches, and maintaining organization within the design workflow. Responsibilities involve fabric selection and coordination, collaborating with production teams, and ensuring smooth communication among stakeholders. The Sweater Design Assistant will also participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute to innovative and market-relevant designs.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

• Basic understanding of sweater construction, fit, and standard specifications

• Interest in knitwear, yarns, gauges, and stitch development

Key Accountabilities:

• Assist the Head Designer and design team throughout the design lifecycle, from concept through production

• Create flat sketches and assist with design updates using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

• Support the creation and maintenance of tech packs and design documentation

• Help prepare spec samples and maintain organized design records

• Track samples and assist with follow-ups on revisions and approvals

• Support fittings and help document fit comments and corrections

• Maintain organization and accuracy across all design-related files

Qualifications

• Technical proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and experience in Graphic Design tools
• Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field
• Prior experience in sweater or knitwear design
