Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) has an opening for  one (1) full-time Social Worker  the  Career and Education Programs’ YouthBuild IGNITE. We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Social Worker to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will provide support and services to children, families, and individuals in high-risk populations. Your expertise in child welfare, crisis intervention, and social services will help foster safe, healthy environments and promote positive outcomes for those in need.  Principal Duties:

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with participants to foster a safe, supportive,  trauma-informed, and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth, resilience, and  participant engagement.
  • Provide comprehensive case management services by conducting biopsychosocial assessments,  developing Individualized Service Strategies (ISS), establishing participant-centered goals, and  monitoring progress throughout enrollment and the one-year follow-up period.
  • Promote participants' social-emotional development by providing individual coaching, facilitating  evidence-based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) activities, and helping participants develop  self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and resilience.
  • Identify and address barriers to success by utilizing strengths-based and trauma-informed  practices, Motivational Interviewing, crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, safety planning,  and referrals to appropriate internal and external support services.
  • Manage a caseload of participants by conducting regular one-on-one meetings, maintaining  detailed case notes, documenting participant progress, updating databases, and ensuring  compliance with program, contractual, and funder requirements.
  • Coordinate supportive services by connecting participants to mental health counseling, housing  assistance, healthcare, education, public benefits, legal services, transportation, childcare, and other  community resources that promote stability and long-term success.
  • Lead multidisciplinary case conferences and collaborate with program staff, educators, career  advisors, and external service providers to develop coordinated intervention strategies that support participants' educational, vocational, social-emotional, and personal development goals. 
  • Develop and implement participant engagement and retention strategies that foster accountability,   persistence, emotional well-being, successful program completion, and long-term self-sufficiency.
  • Facilitate workshops and group sessions focused on social-emotional learning, conflict resolution,  healthy relationships, communication skills, stress management, leadership development, life skills,  and other youth development topics.
  • Support participant crisis response and stabilization efforts by assessing risk, developing safety  plans, coordinating emergency interventions, and providing ongoing follow-up in collaboration with  clinical providers and community partners.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and referral partners to  expand participant access to supportive services, behavioral health resources, leadership  opportunities, and community-based programming.
  • Support participant enrollment and transition services by assisting with recruitment, intake,  orientation, assessments, goal planning, service coordination, and preparation for successful  transition into employment, education, and follow-up services.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to program staff on trauma-informed care, participant  engagement strategies, crisis response, restorative practices, and social-emotional development to  ensure consistent, participant-centered service delivery.
  • Participate in agency meetings, committees, professional development, and community  engagement activities, demonstrating a commitment to youth development, leadership  development, equity, continuous improvement, and community building.
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies, confidentiality standards, safety procedures, contractual  obligations, documentation requirements, and applicable regulations while performing other duties   as assigned.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is produced and maintained for all contracts.
  • Meet reporting requirements of funders and management of CHLDC.
  • Participate in training and agency meetings as requested.
  • Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community  organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree preferred in Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, School  Counseling, or another closely related behavioral health or human services discipline.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in an education, justice-involved services, and/or workforce development field  preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications  (Google Sheets/Excel, Slides/PowerPoint, etc.) required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Training facilitation experience required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to work in a high change environment.

 Work Environment:

This position works in office and classroom settings as well as significant community engagement  and worksite locations.  This role routinely involves travel and uses a full range of office equipment such as  computers, cellphones, photocopiers, and standard equipment such as scissors and tape dispensers.

 Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee  to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the  employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or  hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is  occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up  to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,  peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to efficiently and  independently travel throughout the 5 boroughs using public transportation.

 Travel:

 Significant local travel is expected for this position.

 Supervision:

 Reports directly to the YouthBuild IGNITE Assistant Director.

 Compensation:

      $52,000 - 58,000 / annually
