What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Technician position at Cypress HCM?
Lab Technician, 6427
We are looking for a Lab Technician to support SSD hardware bring-up, firmware testing, and lab operations within a fast-paced engineering environment. This role is critical to enabling successful execution of SSD validation programs by ensuring stable test systems, efficient lab operations, and reliable hardware availability. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, thrives in a lab setting, and takes pride in delivering high-quality results while collaborating closely with engineering and operations teams. This role requires full-time onsite presence in a lab environment Monday through Friday during standard business hours. Due to the hands-on nature of the work and the need to support critical hardware bring-up, testing milestones, and time-sensitive lab operations, remote or hybrid work is not supported.

- Build, configure, and troubleshoot NVMe/PCIe SSD test systems, including hosts and supporting lab infrastructure.
- Execute defined manual test plans and procedures with strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and system-level issues; collect logs, analyzer traces, and diagnostic data to support debug activities.
- Clearly document and summarize test results, failures, and observations to aid engineering analysis.
- Manage lab inventory, including tracking assets and coordinating shipping, receiving, and internal movement of hardware.
- Collaborate with firmware, validation, platform, facilities, and operations teams to ensure lab readiness and alignment with project schedules.
- Communicate task status, risks, and dependencies proactively; deliver assignments on time and with high quality.
- Participate in SCRUM or agile ceremonies and provide regular progress updates.
- Identify opportunities to improve lab efficiency through automation, scripting, and process improvements.
- Represent the lab organization in cross-functional discussions and contribute from an operational perspective.
- Support lab planning activities related to space, power, rack layout, and future scalability, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing NVMe/PCIe SSD hardware and system setups.
- Ability to build, configure, and maintain test systems and execute test plans accurately.
- Comfortable performing repetitive manual testing with strong attention to detail.
- Experience assembling, modifying, and reassembling PC or server-based test systems.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux command-line environments (Install and troubleshoot, debugging).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking, reporting, and data organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently using technical documentation and written procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an SSD, storage, or hardware validation lab environment.
- Scripting experience in Shell and/or Python.
- Experience using hardware analyzers, logging tools, and debug utilities.
- Background in automating lab or test activities to improve efficiency.
- Willingness to lead task-focused initiatives or contribute to cross-functional efforts.
- Demonstrated continuous learning mindset and adaptability to new technologies.
