A medical device manufacturing client in Sandy, Utah is looking for a direct hire EHS Professional. This Environment, Health, and Safety Process Engineer will create and implement comprehensive High Hazard/Process Safety Management programs for the site while championing a culture of safety.
What You’ll Do
- Identify process hazards, evaluate risks, and develop innovative solutions.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (both leading and lagging) to showcase the impact and progress of our health programs
- Spearhead Process Hazard Analysis on existing systems and exciting new processes
- Evaluate new processes and enhance existing ones to meet evolving requirements.
- Partner with maintenance engineers and technical specialists to develop innovative solutions for complex equipment challenges
- Coordinate and evaluate cutting-edge maintenance programs for sophisticated high hazard equipment
- Ensure timely resolution of findings and implement effective High Hazard/Process Safety Management programs
- Create and monitor Key Performance Indicators that drive operational excellence and safety compliance
- Provide strategic oversight for the site Management of Change Processes.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations for incidents and near misses.
- Oversee and lead Pre-Startup Safety Reviews for site projects.
- Participate actively in implementing new EHS procedures and processes that enhance our safety culture.
- Interact confidently with regulatory authorities for permits, inspections, and information requests.
- Partner with Facilities to engage with insurance companies as a knowledgeable site representative
- Work with Flammable Liquids, Ethylene Oxide Sterilizer, and potential combustible dust scenarios.
Skills Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Process Engineering, or other relevant degree field.
- 3 years leading EHS processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 compliance preferred.
- Familiarity with the fourteen elements of Process Safety Management and EPA's Risk Management Plan rule.
- Demonstrated understanding of federal and state safety and environmental laws with the ability to identify and evaluate workplace hazards
- 3 years in a PSM or RMP regulated environment is ideal
- Functional Safety Certifications or Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is a plus.
- Experience in Fire Loss and Prevention activities including involvement with insurance carrier would be a plus
- Experience designing and implementing strategies/programs/processes that support a business strategy.
- Auditor certification is a plus
Salary of $125K Base 12% annual bonus, discretionary stock and full health benefits/PTO/etc.
