- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 8 years experience in trade.
- Hold a valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as established by the district.
- Be able to work at variable heights.
- Extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances and all types of appliances and steam boiler equipment.
- Write, comprehend, and edit specifications and prints for new construction and modifications to all types of appliance equipment.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
- Working knowledge of refrigeration (ice machines, reach-ins, walk-ins,) cooking equipment (ovens, steamers, steam wells, warmers,) and dish machines.
- Knowledge of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) recovery.
- Knowledge of current codes and ordinances involving refrigeration systems.
- Basic electrical knowledge (working with 110-to-480-volt 3 phase).
- Basic plumbing knowledge.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer skills: Email, word, excel.

Essential Functions
- Perform all duties of an Appliance lead, Appliance Tech I, II, III, and IV.
- Direct and supervise all phases of building appliance and steam boiler repairs and modifications.
- Approve parts and material orders for department.
- Make recommendations concerning hiring, advancement, discipline, and discharge of employees.
- Conduct follow up inspections of completed work.
- Coordinate repairs and/or renovations by outside contractors.
- Take necessary action to immediately report and correct any condition that may cause injury or illness to students or staff.
- Monitor departmental purchases.
- Review specifications and prints for new construction and remodels.
- Determine supplies and equipment needed for jobs.
- Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor.
