Temporary Worker, Guest Services, Usher - VPAC Administration Building

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A PART-TIME/TEMPORARY POSITION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Welcome audience members to the venue upon entrance and assist them with finding the precise location of their seats according to their ticket information
• Use a scanning device or other handheld tool to ensure the ticket presented is an authentic credential for the specific performance scheduled
• Resolve any conflicts as needed when audience members are in disagreement about the location of their seats or when another patron is in the wrong ticketed section
• Aid patrons who have disabilities or other special needs in finding an appropriate seat or section for them to enjoy the show comfortably
• Answer audience member questions when asked about the content of the show or give advice about other spots nearby for food or lodging
• Enforce all venue performance rules throughout the live show, such as no flash photography, no recording, limited entry and exit and no access to restricted areas
• Follow all emergency procedures regarding venue evacuation and know the location of all exits throughout the building
• Maintain a professional appearance with a company-provided uniform to represent the venue in a positive light

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Ability to interact tactfully and professionally with the general public.
2. Be able to read an event diagram and direct patrons to the correct seat, row, and section.
3. Control access to the venue and report any unsafe activity.
4. Be able to assist patrons with a disability, such as pushing a wheelchair, operating an elevator, or calling for medical assistance.
5. In emergency situations, be able to assist patrons in safely exiting the building.
6. The ability to convey specific event information, in a friendly, outgoing, and positive manner.
7. Physically able to perform assigned duties; such as, continuous walking, standing, repetitious work tasks, and occasionally required to walk long distances, including but not limited to ramps and stairs.
8. Comply with employee standards of conduct as specified in the CFISD Handbook. For example, dress code, personal appearance, behavior and be ready to work at scheduled starting time.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Services Supervisor or Department Supervisor.

NOTICE TO TRS RETIREES:

Depending on your individual date of retirement, you may have restrictions on the number of hours allowed to work each month without loss of annuity and incurring payroll and/or TRS Care surcharges.  Therefore, we are advising that all retirees contact TRS to discuss their individual restrictions, if any, in order to make good decisions prior to accepting any position with CFISD.  It is ultimately the responsibility of each retiree to be aware of his/her status to prevent any loss of funds.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a part-time temporary assignment, however, the length of the temporary assignment will be determined based on project needs.

PAY:

$13.00/hour

Maintain emotional control within high stress environments, repetitive hand motions, frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, climbing, moving, and carrying. Frequent prolonged or irregular hours from week to week including nights, weekends, and holidays.
