PARTS TECHNICIAN II

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. Two (2) years’ experience with parts inventory management preferred.
  3. ASE Certification or obtain within 1 year of hire.
  4. Basic math
  5. Effective and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Knowledge of auto parts and
  7. Knowledge of purchasing procedures.
  8. Ability to lift heavy equipment and
  9. Ability to use personal computer and automated inventory
  10. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  11. Experience in managing procurement of vehicle parts and supplies.
  12. Strong attention to detail.
  13. Strong negotiation skills.
  14. Extensive knowledge of all NHTAS, FMCRS and FMVSS regulations.
  15. Ability to speak, read, and understand the English

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$18.28/HS 7

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Contact vendors to check on availability of parts and supplies.
  2. Ensure parts catalogs and order books are current.
  3. Initiate purchase orders for parts and supplies to maintain established inventory levels.
  4. Collaborate and maintain a positive working relationship with vendors and shop personnel.
  5. Monitor parts room inventory and perform periodic inventory audits, verify accuracy and account for discrepancies.
  6. Utilize computerized system to record and track receipt and issuance of parts and supplies.
  7. Pick up parts order or arrange for delivery.
  8. Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks.
  9. Open crates and other containers, unpack items received and inspect for damage and defects.
  10. Receive deliveries and verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing or measuring and comparing size, weight, description and coded numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
  11. Create and maintain all physical and electronic records and files required, including computerized parts and supplies inventory.
  12. Verify pricing of parts and supplies complies with state contracts and obtain price quotes for special orders and repairs.
  13. Monitor fuel usage and fuel storage tank level readings and assist with the ordering of fuel and scheduling of deliveries.
  14. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  15. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
  16. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  17. Maintain clean and orderly parts and supply room and equipment.
  18. Adhere to contracts, policies, procedures, guidelines and State and Federal laws.
  19. Regular and Reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

PARTS TECHNICIAN I

  2. Three (3) years of experience in parts inventory management preferred.
  3. ASE Certification preferred.
  4. Basic math skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Locate and requisition all parts, materials, and supplies needed for vehicle repair and
  2. Manage and direct the work of parts technician II(s).
  3. Maintain accurate records of all fuel used and order or requisition
  4. Contact vendors to check on availability of parts and supplies, including but not limited to light duty vehicles, medium duty vehicles, heavy duty vehicles and of all classifications of trailers.
  5. Collaborate with appropriate district personnel regarding researching and developing specifications and procedures for obtaining new parts, services, and contracts.
  6. Work cooperatively with purchasing department to develop specifications, sources, availability, pricing, shipping, and receiving of parts, equipment, and supply needs for vehicle repair and maintenance.

  19. Manage fuel usage and maintain all fluid levels in District vehicles.
  20. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  21. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
  22. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  23. Develop work schedule and assignments to ensure efficient operation of the parts room.
  24. Manage and maintain clean and orderly parts/supply room and equipment.
  25. Perform monthly inventory audits and account for discrepancies.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.

LOCATION:

Available positions may be at any center (Barker, Eldridge, Falcon, Telge, or Westgreen)

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Frequent work interruptions.
