Northrop Grumman Software Test Engineer (Level 2 or 3) position
Position Overview
We are seeking a Software Test Engineer (Level 2 or Level 3) to support the verification and validation of mission-critical satellite ground software within our Space Division. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute automated and manual test suites to ensure system functionality, reliability, and performance across the software development lifecycle.
You will work closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mission Operations, and DevSecOps teams to evaluate ground systems and support live customer demonstrations and operational events.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Automation & Execution: Design, build, and maintain automated software test frameworks for feature, capability, regression, and end-to-end system testing.
- Requirements Verification: Translate complex software requirements into clear, executable test cases using simulated mission environments.
- CI/CT Integration: Help expand and modernize automated test pipelines to advance Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing (CI/CT).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Systems Engineering, DevSecOps, and Mission Operations teams to validate software capabilities for satellite flight operations.
- Defect Management: Investigate, document, and track software defects to resolution during integration and verification phases.
- Demonstrations & Operations: Support customer demonstrations and operational events, ensuring ground systems are flight-ready.
- Agile Participation: Actively participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Qualifications
Level 2 – Engineer Software Test
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field 2 years of professional experience, OR
- Master’s degree in a STEM field, OR
- 6 years of related professional experience in lieu of a degree.
- Clearance: Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (current and within scope).
- Skills:
- Fundamental software development knowledge, including C, Python, and Bash scripting.
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing automated software tests.
- Basic understanding of space operations and satellite ground systems.
