We are looking for a Senior z/OS Mainframe Systems Engineer for our client in Hoffman Estates, IL
Job Title: Senior z/OS Mainframe Systems Engineer
Job Type: Contract
Job Description:
Pay Range: $55hr - $60hr
- Administer and support zOS operating systems and related subsystems, eg, CICS, DB2, IMS.
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for mainframe-related issues.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and job control language JCL.
- Collaborate with application teams to optimize mainframe resource usage.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulations.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
- 7 years of experience in mainframe systems engineering or administration.
- Strong knowledge of zOS JCL, TSOISPF, RACF, and SMPE.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with mainframe networking protocols and storage systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
