Job Title: Cards Mainframe Developer
Job Type: Contract
Job Overview:
Pay Range: $40hr - $45hr
- Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across development, testing, and production environments.
- Optimize COBOL programs, JCL jobs, and DB2 queries for improved performance.
- Support daily batch processing, monitor job execution, and resolve job failures.
- Develop and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for automation and system integration.
- Ensure seamless integration between Unix-based automation and mainframe backend systems.
- Enhance and troubleshoot existing scripts to improve stability and execution efficiency.
- Develop and maintain database objects such as procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.
- Perform SQL tuning and optimize database performance.
- Monitor production systems, resolve incidents, and ensure batch stability.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and maintain technical documentation.
Requirement/Must Have:
- Strong experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2.
- Expertise in Unix/Linux shell scripting.
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL development skills.
- Experience with batch processing and automation workflows.
Experience:
- Experience in mainframe development and production support.
- Experience integrating shell scripts with relational databases.
- Experience in debugging and performance optimization.
