Position Summary The Resident Inspector serves as the on-site representative of Cylinder Services, Inc. (CSI), an authorized U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Independent Inspection Agency (IIA). The inspector is responsible for performing independent inspection, witnessing, verification, and documentation activities required by DOT regulations. The inspector maintains independence from the manufacturer's production organization while working closely with plant personnel to verify compliance with the requirements of applicable regulations contained in 49 CFR Parts 107, 171-180, approved manufacturing procedures, engineering drawings, quality system documentation, and CSI inspection procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Resident Inspector shall:

Perform all inspection activities required by DOT regulations.Verify compliance with applicable provisions of 49 CFR and Special Permits.Witness required manufacturing, inspection, testing, and qualification operations.Verify that manufacturing processes are performed in accordance with approved procedures.Confirm the use of approved materials and maintain traceability throughout manufacturing.Review manufacturing travelers, work orders, inspection records, and quality documentation for completeness and accuracy.Witness hydrostatic pressure testing, leak testing, proof pressure testing, burst testing, and other qualification testing as required.Verify that inspection and test equipment is properly calibrated and within calibration intervals.Confirm personnel performing special processes or nondestructive examinations are properly qualified when required.

Verify cylinder identification, permanent markings, serial numbers, and traceabilityrecords.

Document inspection findings using CSI reporting systems.

Identify and document nonconformances and communicate them to CSI managementand designated client personnel.

Maintain complete inspection records in accordance with CSI procedures and DOTrequirements.

Provide daily or periodic inspection reports as required.

Protect the independence and impartiality of the Independent Inspection Agency at alltimes.

Maintain confidentiality of proprietary manufacturing information.

Required Knowledge

The successful candidate should possess working knowledge of:

DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR Parts 107, 171-180)

Pressure vessel manufacturing processes

Mechanical inspection techniques

Dimensional inspection methods

Material traceability systems

Manufacturing quality systems

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

Inspection documentation and recordkeeping

Use of precision measuring instruments

Knowledge of composite pressure vessels, metallic cylinders, or pressure vessel manufacturing is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum three years of manufacturing, quality, inspection, or pressure vesselexperience

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Valid driver's license

Ability to pass background screening if required by the client

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as a DOT Independent Inspection Agency inspector

Experience with composite pressure vessels or high-pressure gas cylinders

Familiarity with DOT Special Permits

Knowledge of ISO quality systems

Experience with nondestructive examination processes

Mechanical or manufacturing engineering background

Ability to communicate effectively in English required; Spanish-language communicationskills preferred

Physical Requirements

The position regularly requires the employee to:

Stand and walk for extended periods

Lift up to 40 pounds

Climb stairs and ladders when necessary

Work in a manufacturing environment

Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Perform visual inspections requiring normal or corrected vision

Occasionally work around elevated noise levels and industrial equipment

Authority

The Resident Inspector has the authority to:

Accept or reject inspection activities based upon compliance with DOT requirements and CSI procedures.Suspend inspection activities when compliance cannot be verified.Report nonconforming conditions directly to CSI management.Request corrective actions before inspection activities continue.

The inspector does not have authority to direct production operations or modify manufacturing procedures on behalf of the client.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
