What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upholstery Technician - II position at Cybotics System?
As an Upholstery Tech II, you will design, fabricate, and install premium upholstery and trim components for aircraft interiors. You’ll also assist the Shop Lead, guide teammates, and mentor newer technicians while ensuring excellence in safety, quality, and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4 years upholstery experience including 2 years aircraft upholstery, OR
- 6 years commercial upholstery experience
- Advanced knowledge of upholstery, sewing processes, materials, and/or advanced carpet installation
- Ability to install custom-designed carpets
- Proficient in reading blueprints, engineering documents, and material specs
- Computer literate
- Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift
- Strong English communication skills (read/write/speak)
Key ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions
- Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, panels, and various interior assemblies
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to meet design requirements
- Sew, fabricate, and install covers for interior panels while meeting quality and safety standards
- Use the Corridor system for material tracking, creating part demands, signing off work, and tracking squawks
- Cut and install advanced custom carpets with unique or complex patterns
Additional Functions
- Take on Lead responsibilities when required; oversee projects and delegate tasks
- Perform and support safety audits
- Assist with maintenance of shop equipment and documentation (JSAs)
- Uphold and champion Safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies
- Mentor and train junior technicians to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency
- Collaborate with Leads and senior technicians to identify and implement process improvements using Lean & Six Sigma tools
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $23.31 - $28.75 per hour
