Assistant Controller

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our growing finance and accounting team. This position plays a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, supporting month-end close, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive process improvements.
The Assistant Controller will support audit preparation, assist in ERP system processes, and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in managing accounting activities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review general ledger entries for accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Oversee fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Collaborate with the Controller and Finance team to ensure consistency across business units.
- Support external audits and coordinate with auditors as required.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
- Assist in ERP system implementation and optimization (Oracle or similar preferred).
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA certification preferred but not mandatory.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, energy, or industrial sectors.
- Public accounting experience is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion preferred; NetSuite or Sage a plus).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- This position is primarily office-based, requiring extended periods of sitting and computer work. The role may occasionally involve standing, reaching, or lifting items up to 25 lbs. Work hours may include early mornings or evenings based on business needs.
