Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to lead corporate tax compliance, reporting and planning activities. The Tax Manager will oversee the preparation and review of federal, state and local tax returns for C-corporations, S-corporations and partnerships, manage ASC 740 accounting and tax provision processes, and partner with finance and ERP teams to optimize tax reporting in Oracle and other ERPs. The role requires strong technical tax knowledge, hands-on experience with tax accounting and systems, and proven leadership to manage a small team and coordinate with external advisors and auditors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage preparation, review and filing of federal, state and local tax returns for C-corporations, S-corporations and partnerships.
- Own the ASC 740 tax accounting process, prepare quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, and coordinate disclosures for financial statements.
- Lead tax compliance calendar and ensure timely completion of extensions, estimated payments and return filings.
- Develop and execute tax planning strategies to minimize effective tax rate and support business objectives.
- Supervise, mentor and develop tax staff; review workpapers and deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with external auditors, tax advisors and legal counsel to support audits, tax controversy and complex transactions.
- Maintain and improve tax processes, internal controls and documentation across tax accounting and compliance functions.
- Implement and maintain tax-related configurations and workflows in Oracle and other ERP systems; work with IT/ERP teams on system enhancements.
- Conduct technical tax research and provide guidance on transactional and operational tax issues, including ASC 740 impacts.
- Support M&A diligence, tax structuring, and integration activities as needed, including assessing tax attributes and exposures.
- Serve as primary liaison between tax and other finance functions to align tax provision, cash tax planning and forecasting.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Masters degree or equivalent is a plus.
- Active CPA license required (or equivalent certification) with in-depth knowledge of US tax law.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive corporate tax experience, including experience with C-corporations, S-corporations and partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing ASC 740 tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle and other ERP tax/accounting modules; ability to partner with IT on system configuration and reporting.
- Strong technical tax research skills and practical application of tax guidance to business transactions.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing tax professionals in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present tax positions to senior management and external stakeholders.
- High proficiency with Excel and tax software; experience with tax research tools and workflow platforms preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
