Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for a variety of commercial building projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence and budget control while coordinating trades, subcontractors and stakeholders across sectors including healthcare, K-12 and higher education, recreational facilities, libraries and multifamily developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily on-site construction activities and supervise field personnel to meet schedule, quality and safety objectives.
- Manage subcontractors and trade coordination, ensuring work is completed on time, on budget and to contract specifications.
- Enforce and promote a proactive safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies and maintain incident reporting and corrective actions.
- Review and interpret plans, specifications and contract documents; resolve design and constructability issues in coordination with project managers and design teams.
- Develop, maintain and communicate project schedules; track progress against milestones and implement recovery plans when needed.
- Control project costs through monitoring labor, materials and subcontractor expenditures; review and approve RFIs, change orders and invoices in collaboration with project leadership.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance checks; address punch lists, commissioning and closeout activities to ensure owner satisfaction.
- Coordinate permitting, inspections and regulatory compliance with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Facilitate clear communication with owners, architects, engineers and project managers; prepare site reports, meeting minutes and daily logs.
- Mentor and develop field staff, promote teamwork and maintain a positive working environment on site.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience preferred; relevant trade background considered.
- 10 years of field experience with progressive superintendent responsibilities on commercial, institutional and multifamily projects $20MM
- Demonstrated experience across targeted sectors: Healthcare, Educational (K12 and Higher Education), Recreational, Library and Multifamily building types.
- Proven superintendent-level skills in supervising complex builds, managing subcontractors and delivering projects to quality, schedule and budget targets.
- Working knowledge of construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or Primavera) and proficiency reading plans and specifications.
- Valid drivers license, reliable transportation and ability to travel between sites as required.
