Construction Superintendent (Healthcare & Commercial)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for healthcare and commercial projects. The Superintendent will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, field experience in healthcare environments, coordination with owners, subcontractors and project managers, and strict adherence to regulatory and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily on-site construction activities, supervising craft workers and subcontractors to meet schedule and quality targets.
• Develop, maintain and accelerate detailed schedules in coordination with project management to achieve milestone completion.
• Enforce strict health, safety and environmental protocols, conduct toolbox talks and ensure OSHA and company safety standards are met.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects and owners to resolve technical issues, RFIs and changes in scope.
• Monitor and control on-site costs; track labor, materials and equipment usage and report budget variances.
• Implement healthcare-specific controls including infection control risk assessments, dust control, sequencing for occupied facilities, and coordination with facility operations.
• Inspect work for compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards; oversee punch lists and final turnover processes.
• Maintain accurate site documentation including daily reports, progress photos, QA/QC logs, safety records and subcontractor logs.
• Manage procurement delivery coordination for materials and equipment and ensure proper storage and protection on site.
• Mentor and train field staff, promote productive teamwork and enforce company policies and procedures.
• Liaise with clients, facility staff and stakeholders to maintain positive relationships, manage expectations and minimize disruptions to ongoing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7 years of Superintendent-level experience on commercial and healthcare construction projects.
• Proven knowledge of construction methods, means and processes, interpreting drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulatory standards (e.g., FGI Guidelines, Joint Commission requirements) and experience managing projects in active healthcare facilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with scheduling and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Primavera) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Valid OSHA 30-hour certification; knowledge of site safety programs and incident reporting.
• Ability to read blueprints, perform takeoffs and understand structural, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.
• Physical ability to inspect job sites and work outdoors in variable conditions.
