- Implement and maintain process control procedures, standard work, and documentation for setup, changeover, and preventive maintenance.
- Oversee first article inspections, in-process quality checks, and final inspection to ensure conformance to PCB assembly specifications and IPC standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, soldering/repair, and quality teams to troubleshoot process issues, root-cause failures, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Manage material flow and communication with procurement for SMT consumables (solder paste, stencils, components) and ensure proper storage and handling.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, SMED) to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework while improving safety and morale.
- Ensure compliance with EHS policies and industry regulations, and enforce cleanroom/ESD protocols where applicable.
- Report production status, quality metrics, and improvement progress to plant management and participate in capacity planning and new product introductions.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent technical diploma, or equivalent experience in PCB assembly manufacturing.
- Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience in SMT operations and at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role in electronics manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of Surface Mount Technology equipment and processes, including stencil printing, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection (AOI).
- Familiarity with PCB assembly practices, IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001), surface mount components, and solder paste process control.
- Proven leadership skills with experience coaching teams, managing shifts, and improving team performance.
- Demonstrated experience with process improvement methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis) and basic statistical process control (SPC) tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read assembly drawings, BOMs, and process documentation; proficiency with MES or ERP systems is a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and support production requirements, including overtime and weekend coverage as needed.
