SCADA Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a SCADA Engineer to design, implement and support supervisory control and data acquisition systems for industrial facilities. The primary purpose of the role is to develop reliable monitoring and control solutions, integrate field devices and PLCs, support factory acceptance and site commissioning activities, and deliver clear technical documentation and HMI layouts that meet operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop SCADA architectures, tag structures and data models to support reliable monitoring and control of plant systems.
- Configure and maintain SCADA platforms (including Ignition and other commercial SCADA suites) and develop intuitive HMI screens for operators.
- Create and manage User Defined Types (UDTs), template tags, alarm strategies and historian configurations.
- Integrate PLCs, RTUs and field devices using standard industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP and similar) and validate data exchanges.
- Lead and participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) activities, document test procedures and resolve issues found during testing.
- Provide commissioning support on site, including low-voltage wiring verification, system startup, tuning and troubleshooting to ensure systems perform to specification.
- Develop clear technical documentation, wiring diagrams, control narratives, and operational manuals for handover to operations teams.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, vendors and clients to plan integrations with BMS, building automation systems and third-party equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Control Systems, Computer, or related Engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with SCADA systems (required) including designing HMI screens, tag/datamodel management and historian configuration.
- 2 years of experience in industrial control systems, including PLC integration and field device communications.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and site activities, including FAT and SAT (nice to have).
- Experience configuring HMIs and developing intuitive operator interfaces (nice to have).
- Experience with User Defined Types (UDTs), tag templates and scalable tag architecture (nice to have).
- Practical experience programming or integrating PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider or similar) and implementing protocol integrations (Modbus, OPC UA) (nice to have).
- Experience with Ignition SCADA platform (nice to have).
- Knowledge of low-voltage control wiring, grounding practices and electrical schematics (nice to have).
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) integrations and building automation protocols (BACnet) is desirable (nice to have).
