About the Role

We are looking for an Application Engineer who is eager to grow their expertise in switchgear systems while supporting the design and validation of customer-focused technical solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, sales, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality, compliant, and manufacturable designs.

This position is ideal for someone early in their application engineering career who is looking to learn from experienced engineers, build a strong technical foundation, and progress into more complex and customized project work over time.

What You Will DoProject Kickoff and Requirements Review

• Participate in project kickoff and charter meetings to align on scope, requirements, and technical expectations
• Review customer documentation such as one-line diagrams and customer-specific requirements to identify gaps, risks, or conflicts early
• Support the development of clarification documents to resolve discrepancies and secure customer approval before detailed design begins

Design and Engineering Support

• Review and approve key engineering deliverables including component lists, one-line and three-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and data plates
• Ensure all designs meet applicable industry standards (NEC, ANSI, IEEE, UL) as well as customer requirements
• Partner with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to confirm feasibility and preserve design intent throughout the project lifecycle
• Assist with the selection of primary and secondary components in alignment with internal standards and customer needs

Technical Communication and Collaboration

• Act as a technical resource for design-related questions from internal teams
• Participate in technical discussions to drive alignment and resolve routine design challenges
• Learn and communicate internal design standards and processes, with increasing exposure to customer-facing technical conversations as experience grows

Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing

• Support and mentor engineers interested in developing application engineering skills
• Provide constructive feedback to improve design quality, consistency, and efficiency

Continuous Improvement and Development

• Stay current with evolving industry codes, standards, and internal best practices
• Document lessons learned and contribute to updates in standard operating procedures and work instructions
• Proactively seek mentorship and training from senior engineers and engineering leadership to prepare for more advanced and customized projects
• Perform additional duties as assigned

What You BringRequired Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret schematic, one-line, and three-line diagrams
• Familiarity with front elevation and mechanical drawings
• Working knowledge of primary and secondary control components from major OEMs
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to engineering drawing standards and industry codes (IEEE, UL 891, UL 1558, NEC), with a willingness to deepen expertise over time
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Collaborative mindset and comfort working across cross-functional teams
• Curiosity and initiative to stay current with innovations in switchgear and manufacturing technologies
