Job Description

CyberArk is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Machine Identity Security team, focused on backend systems that power the control plane of our platform.

In this role, you will design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations that enable secure machine identity and certificate lifecycle management at scale. You will work on high-throughput, distributed systems supporting large-scale request volumes and real-time system interactions.

You will work closely with senior engineers and technical leaders to implement systems that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable. This includes building APIs, integrating services, and ensuring performance and stability under production load.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building backend systems in production environments, working through real-world challenges around performance, reliability, and system complexity.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and APIs that power the Machine Identity Security control plane
• Contribute to system design and architecture decisions within your team
• Develop integrations between the control plane and external systems/tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, enterprise platforms)
• Build and maintain distributed services supporting multi-tenant SaaS environments
• Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, and reliability under load
• Collaborate with product, platform, and security teams to deliver backend functionality
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across distributed services
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering quality and practices
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing, and development workflows

Qualifications

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 4–8 years of professional experience in software development
• Strong experience building backend services and APIs using Java (primary); Go experience is a plus
• Experience working with distributed systems or microservices architectures
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience working with production systems, including debugging, performance tuning, and reliability improvements
• Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and service-to-service communication
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with messaging systems or streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka) is a plus
• Familiarity with identity or security systems (SAML, OAuth, certificate management) is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work through technical challenges
• Ability to clearly explain technical decisions and system behavior
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a team
