Lead critical network security remediation and help strengthen firewall and VPN infrastructure for a leading global financial institution.
The Role
we re looking for an experienced Senior Firewall Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Team Lead to support a high-priority network security remediation program.
You ll provide hands-on technical leadership across external firewall rules and VPN remediation workstreams, coordinating a team of five specialists to deliver secure, accurate, and implementation-ready solutions.
Working closely with stakeholders across the organization, including Enterprise Network Services (ENS), you ll combine deep technical expertise with effective delivery coordination, risk management, and quality assurance.
What You ll Do
- Lead firewall and VPN remediation: Provide hands-on technical leadership across external firewall rules and VPN remediation activities, ensuring secure and effective delivery.
- Coordinate technical delivery: Lead a team of five specialists, overseeing work planning, technical direction, dependencies, progress reporting, and risk escalation.
- Collaborate across teams: Work closely with Enterprise Network Services (ENS), and relevant stakeholders to align remediation activities with operational requirements.
- Apply network security expertise: Use your knowledge of firewall environments, security architecture, and associated processes to guide technical decisions and resolve complex challenges.
- Ensure quality and readiness: Review technical deliverables for completeness, accuracy, security alignment, and implementation readiness, addressing issues before deployment.
What We re Looking For
- Extensive hands-on experience in enterprise firewall security, firewall rule management, VPN technologies, and network security remediation.
- Strong understanding of complex financial services network environments, including firewall governance, security controls, and change management processes.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating technical teams, managing delivery dependencies, communicating progress, and escalating risks effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively across infrastructure, network security, operations, and technology stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical review skills, with a focus on delivering secure, accurate, and operationally ready solutions.
Bonus Points For
- Previous experience working within network security environments and familiarity with its internal processes.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Network Services (ENS) function and associated network security dependencies.
- Experience delivering large-scale firewall rule reviews, VPN remediation, or security improvement programs.
- Familiarity with security governance, audit requirements, and implementation controls within regulated financial institutions.
- Experience supporting security remediation programs involving multiple teams and complex technical dependencies.
