We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer who can take ownership of complex technical issues, infrastructure projects, and escalations while delivering the high level of service our clients expect.

Position Overview

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving client IT environments.

This position is intended for an experienced IT professional who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting complex issues, leading technical projects, and serving as an escalation point for other members of the technical team.

The ideal candidate has strong experience working across Microsoft environments, networking, virtualization, cloud services, cybersecurity, and modern business IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues that cannot be resolved by Tier 1 or Tier 2 support.
• Design, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
• Manage Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Azure, SharePoint, and related Microsoft cloud technologies.
• Configure and maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and other core infrastructure.
• Design, deploy, and troubleshoot business networks including switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networks, and multi-site environments.
• Deploy and manage virtualization platforms including Hyper-V and other supported virtualization technologies.
• Perform server migrations, Microsoft 365 migrations, infrastructure upgrades, network replacements, and other client projects.
• Troubleshoot complex network, server, application, authentication, and cloud-related problems.
• Assist with cybersecurity implementations including endpoint protection, MFA, conditional access, email security, firewalls, and security hardening.
• Review client environments and make recommendations for infrastructure improvements, lifecycle replacement, reliability, and security.
• Create and maintain accurate technical documentation for client environments.
• Work closely with project management, technical support, and leadership to successfully plan and execute client projects.
• Communicate technical issues and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical client contacts.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors, software providers, ISPs, and other technology partners when necessary.
• Participate in onboarding new managed-service clients and standardizing their environments.
• Maintain established Cyber One Solutions technical standards and best practices across client environments.
• Provide occasional onsite support at customer locations.
• Participate in an on-call or after-hours escalation rotation when required.
• Perform other technology-related duties as needed.

Required Experience & Skills

• 3 years of professional IT infrastructure, systems administration, or systems engineering experience.
• Strong Windows Server administration experience.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, switching, and firewalls.
• Experience troubleshooting complex Windows workstation and server environments.
• Experience managing cloud-based business environments.
• Experience with virtualization technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to independently research, diagnose, and resolve unfamiliar technical problems.
• Ability to manage multiple client issues and projects simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to document technical environments and procedures clearly.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional travel to client locations.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who does more than follow a troubleshooting checklist.

A successful Systems Engineer at Cyber One Solutions should be able to walk into an unfamiliar environment, understand how the pieces fit together, identify the underlying problem, and develop a technically sound solution.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of an issue from initial diagnosis through final resolution and communicating clearly with both customers and other members of the technical team.

Experience working for an MSP is strongly preferred because this position requires the ability to quickly move between different customers, technologies, environments, and priorities.
