What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Linux System Administrator position at CXC?
We are seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator (RHEL) to support one of the largest government agencies in Downey, CA. This is a long-term onsite contract (12–24 months) focused on enterprise Linux infrastructure, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, automation, and security-driven operations.
Type: Contract (12–24 months)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Location: Onsite – Downey, CA/City of Industry
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, SUSE, and Debian systems
- Manage Linux servers across on‑prem and cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and automation scripts
- Support Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters
- Perform patch planning, vulnerability assessments, and remediation
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity
- Coordinate production changes and maintenance windows
- Work closely with Cyber Security, DevOps, Networking, and Application teams
- Maintain detailed technical documentation and process guides
Required Qualifications
- 7 years Linux system administration experience
- Strong expertise with RHEL (required)
- 4 years of Ansible, Shell, or Python scripting
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- VMware (vCenter, ESXi) experience
- Exposure to security tools such as Nessus, Tenable, Tanium, McAfee, Cisco AMP
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
