Custodial Supervisor - Second Shift Needed
Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE), Custodial Supervisor - Second Shift (also referred to as the Night Supervisor) to join our team at CVU High School. We are looking for a reliable, hands-on supervisor to clean while coordinating and supervising evening custodial services to provide a safe learning environment for our students.
This position is critical to ensuring our school building remains clean, welcoming, and safe for our students, staff, and community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assign and oversee the work of evening custodians, issue daily work assignments, check completed work, and train new employees.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, washing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors. Clean windows, walls, restrooms, trashcans, and water fountains.
- Provide set up and break down of the cafeteria, gymnasium, or auditorium for special events.
- Remove snow from entryways.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
- High school degree (or equivalent) plus 4 to 5 years of relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience. Commercial cleaning and supervisory experience are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial floor machines (scrubbers, buffers, commercial vacuums) alongside routine housekeeping.
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, faculty, administrators, parents, and visitors while collaboratively resolving conflicts.
- Basic math skills for measuring weight, volume, and distance, as well as the reading comprehension necessary to interpret safety rules and operating manuals.
- Dependability, self-control in high-stress situations, attention to detail, adaptability, and an ethical work ethic.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and handle outdoor elements or loud environments as required by the job classification.
