PAY RANGE: $90,000 to $120,000 base salary plus eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
JOB DESCRIPTION
CV Resources, in partnership with a local accounting firm, seeks an experienced Tax Supervisor to join their team. Reporting to a Partner/Manager, this role will be responsible for supervising and executing tax engagements across a diverse, multi-state client base that includes manufacturing, distribution, entertainment, gaming, and high net worth individuals. The Tax Supervisor will play a key role in tax return preparation and review, staff development, and direct client interaction. The firm is open to candidates with a strong tax background and willing to provide audit training for those interested in expanding their skill set.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TAX SUPERVISOR
Tax Compliance & Return Preparation
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, S-corps, trusts, and estates, with an emphasis on pass-through/flow-through entity returns.
- Review work prepared by staff and provide timely, constructive feedback to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Prepare and track extensions and estimated tax payment calculations.
- Coordinate the collection and organization of client documents, work papers, and supporting schedules.
Tax Planning & Research
- Research and analyze complex federal and state tax issues, preparing clear and well-supported technical memoranda and conclusions.
- Assist partners and managers in identifying tax planning opportunities and communicating recommendations to clients.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on client situations.
- Support year-end tax planning discussions with clients, including projections and estimated liability analysis.
Client Service & Engagement Management
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Respond to client inquiries and IRS/state tax notices in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with the preparation of responses to taxing authority audits, correspondence, and examinations.
- Collaborate with partners and managers to identify additional service opportunities and support business development efforts.
Staff Development & Leadership
- Plan and supervise tax engagements, including staff assignments, budget monitoring, and progress reporting.
- Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and constructive performance feedback to staff and senior associates.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and growth-oriented team environment aligned with the firm’s culture.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE TAX SUPERVISOR
Required
- 3–5 years of experience in public accounting, including tax return preparation and light review.
- Experience with pass-through/flow-through entity tax returns.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Accounting, Business, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of tax and accounting principles.
Preferred
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA.
- Master’s degree in taxation (MBT/MST).
- Audit experience (firm is willing to train the right candidate).
