Director of Finance & Accounting

A respected, mission-driven organization is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to serve as a key strategic partner to the CFO and lead all day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the Finance & Accounting function and provide day-to-day leadership to the accounting team
- Partner closely with the CFO on financial strategy, planning, and organizational initiatives
- Oversee financial reporting, month-end close, year-end close, and audit processes
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
- Review and interpret financial results, providing recommendations to executive leadership
- Oversee grant, contract, restricted fund, or specialized funding reporting requirements
- Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and transparency
- Develop, mentor, and manage accounting and finance staff
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- 6 years of leadership experience managing accounting or finance teams
- Strong financial reporting, audit, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls experience
- Deep understanding of GAAP and financial management best practices
- Experience partnering with executive leadership on strategic financial decisions
- Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting system experience
- CPA, MBA, CMA, or comparable advanced credential strongly preferred
- NetSuite experience is a significant plus
- Experience leading accounting and finance functions within nonprofit, healthcare, higher education, government, manufacturing, professional services, multi-entity organizations, or public accounting environments transitioning into industry.
