CV, Inc. is a Civil Engineering company that provides, Survey, Maintenance of traffic, and Subsurface Utility Engineering, for multiple MD/VA/DC/DE Utility providers, as well as County and State organizations.
We are currently looking for an experienced Utility Designator (Locator) / SUE Technician to work in our SUE Services Division.
Experience with Utility Designation, Test Holes, and Maintenance of Traffic, in either the Maryland, DC, Virginia, or Delaware regions is required.
Job Description
- Utilize multiple types of utility locating equipment (Radio Detection, Metrotech, GPR, etc.)
- Perform all aspects of Utility Test Hole operations (QL-A)
- Accurately and Precisely Designate (Locate) all types of Utilities (QL-B)
- Possess the ability and understanding to support all other SUE levels as needed (QL – C and D)
- Draw and develop utility sketches, Field reports, and document information as needed.
- Read, understand, and interpret the following, (digital utility data, civil drawings, utility plans, as-builts, blueprints, and utility records.)
- Perform work on “out of town” projects as requested for up to, but not limited to, one-week intervals.
- Use multiple MS Office Products and communicate using email.
- Physically capable of maneuvering manholes, valve boxes, underground vaults, etc.
- Work with Surveyors to support if needed.
- Perform Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) as needed on most projects.
- Operate a motor vehicle as needed in a safe and responsible manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Metropolitan DC/Baltimore Area in the SUE/Miss Utility industry. (Utility locating, Test holes, Pavement Cores, MOT deployment etc.)
- Knowledge of Electromagnetic induction detection equipment and operating procedures.
- Possess very good interpersonal skills, effective written, and oral communication skills.
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
- Valid driver's license with insurable record required.
- Lift and manipulate up to 100 pounds
- Complete a physical and be willing and able to work in all-weather environments.
- Ability to work cooperatively in team environment.
- Basic computer/technical skills

Location:
Offices in Baltimore and Gaithersburg, MD. SUE is based out of the Baltimore Office. (Most work performed around the Baltimore (695) and DC (495) beltways, but projects can take place in Maryland, Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania, and Delaware
