Veterinary Assistant/Technician
Full-time or Part-time
Location: Santee, CA
Pay range: $20 to $24 per hour based on experience
Job Overview:
Cuyamaca Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced, compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to our furry patients. This role will involve assisting veterinarians with various tasks to ensure the well-being of animals in our care. Our Hospital is privately owned and practices fear-free care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures
- Handle and restrain animals during treatments and X-rays
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
- Collect samples for laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis
- Maintain cleanliness and organization
- Educate pet owners on proper care and treatment plans
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities to the veterinarian
- Ability to place IV catheters is a plus, but on the job training is available
Requirements
- This is a late/closing & Saturdays shift. If you are not available until 7pm or on Saturdays, please do not apply.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Multiple years of experience working in a veterinary setting
- Experience with fear-free handling techniques preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure
- Passion for animal care and welfare
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., bend, and stand for extended periods of time
