Assembly Technician

Job Summary

COMCO is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for assembling, forming, finishing, deburring, inspecting, packaging, and preparing precision plastic components for shipment.

The Assembly Technician receives job-specific instructions from the Assembly Supervisor or Assembly Lead. Instructions may include customer blueprints, shop orders, travelers, setup sheets, and other work instructions. The technician will set up the necessary equipment and fixtures, produce a first piece for approval, and make minor adjustments when required.

This is an active, hands-on position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate must be able to work efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and accuracy.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review customer blueprints, shop orders, travelers, setup sheets, and work instructions before starting each job
• Set up cementing, assembly, forming, and finishing workstations
• Set up and operate strip heaters, power presses, drill presses, hand routers, thermoforming equipment, and other production tools
• Produce a first piece and make minor setup adjustments as needed
• Assemble, cement, form, finish, and inspect plastic components according to customer and company requirements
• Use hand tools to deburr parts and remove chips, burrs, and sharp edges
• Clean and visually inspect parts before moving them to the next operation
• Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other conventional measuring equipment
• Perform dimensional inspections before first-article approval and throughout the production run
• Take responsibility for the quality of every piece produced
• Identify and immediately report defective parts, equipment problems, or other quality concerns to the supervisor
• Provide input on the design and construction of fixtures for thermoforming and strip-heating jobs
• Package, label, bag, and prepare completed parts for shipment
• Complete production paperwork accurately and on time
• Enter required production information into JobBOSS, EOS, and workstation systems promptly and accurately
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards
• Follow all company quality, safety, and ISO requirements
• Work efficiently with minimal supervision after receiving proper instructions
• Work closely with the Assembly Supervisor and other team members to meet production and delivery goals
• Participate in cross-training and assist in other production areas as needed
• Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, assembly, finishing, or production experience is preferred
• Experience forming or assembling plastic components is preferred
• General knowledge of plastics is preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
• Experience using hand tools for deburring, cleaning, and removing chips from manufactured parts
• Ability to use basic measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to complete assigned production work, paperwork, and system entries accurately and on time
• Ability to remain active throughout the shift and maintain an efficient work pace
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Willingness to learn new processes and work in different production areas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
