Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate Social Studies / History Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment while delivering engaging and informative social studies lessons to students.
*This is an in-person teaching role at our school located in Northampton, Mass.*
Duties
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the curriculum program
- Utilize various teaching methods to deliver comprehensive lessons
- Assess and record students' progress and provide grades and feedback
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and stakeholders to support student development
Skills
- Strong organizational skills to manage classroom activities effectively
- Experience in academic advising to guide students in their educational journey
- Knowledge of Montessori principles or willingness to learn
- Proficiency in research methods related to social studies topics
- Familiarity with higher education teaching practices
- Ability in behavior management techniques for a positive classroom environment
- Previous experience in a private school setting is advantageous
- Knowledge of library services to enhance student learning
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
- Proficient in creating an engaging and interactive classroom atmosphere
Compensation is $69,680 for GenEd Certified Teachers and $78,000 for SPED Certified Teachers per the CBA. Preference to certified teachers.
Physical Requirements: Visual acuity to written and computer screen data, manual coordination and dexterity in the operation of office equipment. The physical ability to use the computer, sit, standing, climbing stairs for multi-level office building, lift up to 50 lbs., and engage in nonviolent crisis intervention techniques as needed, including restraint.
