About the job:
CustomsPoint Inc. is in need of a customs compliance specialist. This will begin as part time contract position, but has the potential to convert to full-time employment. The job is fully remote. Geographical location is not important. Work is generally 1-4 hours per day, preferably during business hours but can be flexible.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate part descriptions and assign the corresponding harmonized tariff numbers (HTSUS) and Export Control classification numbers (ECCN). when additional information is needed, contact suppliers, conduct Internet searches, use AI, and consult other information resources. You will be working under the guidance of a licensed customs broker, but be expected to take on responsibility quickly. So, you will need to be self-directed, responsible and reliable.
Identify potential Other Government Agency (OAG) controls on imported parts.
Coordinate with software devs to advise about programming to automate import and export control processes.
Qualifications (Required):
Minimum two years experience with both tariff classifications and ECCN determinations for a diverse range of goods.
Strong familiarity with both the HTSUS and the Commerce Contol List of the US Export Administration Regulations.
Strong understanding of the HTSUS General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs).
Understanding of import/export logistics and operations.
Desire to work towards getting Customs Brokerage license, at the expense of CustomsPoint for the right candidate.
Good computer skills, especially with MS Excel.
Good communication skills.
Qualifications (Desirable or a significant “plus”)
Customs Broker license
Other important/export training certifications
Experience with oilfield equipment and operations
Familiarity with the US import regulations, CFR 19.
Salary:
$5000/month baseline, but is negotiable with commensurate experience and responsibilities.
