Our client, a hospital located in Far Rockaway, is seeking a Customer Relations Representative for a 13-week temp position.
- This is a 13-week temp position which may have possibility to extend.
- This is a day shift position, Monday – Friday.
- The pay rate is $26.67 per hour.
- Must have prior Ambulatory/Hospital Experience.
Job Summary
The Customer Relations Representative will float among six ambulatory practices and provide administrative, scheduling, registration, and customer service support. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, professional, comfortable working in a busy healthcare environment, and committed to creating a positive patient experience.
The Customer Relations Representative is responsible for supporting the daily operations of ambulatory practices while delivering courteous and efficient service to patients, families, providers, and staff.
Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, check-in and check-out, telephone support, payment collection, documentation, patient follow-up, and general administrative duties.
The selected candidate must be comfortable floating among multiple ambulatory practice locations based on departmental needs.
Responsibilities
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments based on provider availability
- Review provider schedules and help identify scheduling conflicts or appointment gaps
- Complete patient registration and pre-registration
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information
- Confirm insurance eligibility, referrals, and authorizations
- Answer incoming calls, retrieve voicemail messages, and route calls appropriately
- Make appointment reminder calls and follow up with patients after missed appointments
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
- Complete patient check-in and check-out procedures
- Provide patients with updates regarding wait times or appointment delays
- Assist patients with enrollment in the patient portal
- Collect co-payments and other patient payments
- Balance daily transactions and maintain accurate payment records
- Prepare medical records and required documentation for upcoming appointments
- Create and follow up on patient cases, forms, and transportation requests
- Process work forms, school forms, and other patient documentation
- Print, scan, fax, file, and distribute documents
- Receive and distribute incoming mail and faxes
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Support continuity of care through accurate documentation and timely follow-up
- Float among six ambulatory practices based on operational needs
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree preferred
- One to three years of customer service or administrative experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare, medical office, hospital, or ambulatory setting strongly preferred
- Experience with patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, or medical front-desk responsibilities preferred
- Familiarity with Athena, MediTech, or similar electronic medical record systems is a plus
- Basic proficiency with Google Workspace or similar office software
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent organization, multitasking, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage a high volume of calls, appointments, and administrative tasks
- Ability to remain professional when addressing patient concerns
- Must be comfortable floating among multiple ambulatory practices
