Job Summary
The Operations and Logistics Manager serves as the department head of the Field, Aluminum and Steel divisions at Custom Site Solutions. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day coordination and of field and shop operations related to fuel tank services, generator fuel systems, enclosure installation and repair, and accessory maintenance. This position leads through the Field, Aluminum, and Steel Supervisors and is directly responsible for logistics, scheduling, and coordination of manufacturing timelines. A key part of this role includes managing, meeting and exceeding the financial goals of the divisions, administrative accuracy and consistency required of technicians and supervisors alike, and the maintaining a positive and collaborative team culture within the divisions.
Duties
LEADERSHIP & FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT FOR DIVISIONS MANAGED
- Manage Field, Aluminum, Steel Supervisors to ensure effective leadership of field and shop teams.
- Set priorities, establish goals, and align departmental activities related to operations and employees with company objectives in mind.
- Works with company HR team and performs necessary employee management functions such as reviews, disciplinary actions, incident administration and investigation, and handles internal employee disputes or issues as needed.
- Works in collaboration with Executive management on financial P&L, forecasts, and budgets of departments and oversees actions and decisions made to meet company goal metrics.
- Works with Executive Management team on implementing business mission, vision, and strategic direction to meet company growth and culture goals.
- Establishes positive morale & institutes a culture of open communication to ensure a teamwork-based environment designed to meet a common goal
- Act as the central point of coordination between sales, engineering, production, and senior leadership.
- Support supervisors in resolving escalated field and shop challenges.
FIELD MANAGEMENT, LOGISTICS & SCHEDULING
- Oversee all aspects of field scheduling, technician dispatch, and daily job planning.
- Coordinate field technician travel needs in collaboration with travel coordinators to ensure efficient, cost-effective deployment.
- Ensure proper crew assignments through Department Supervisors based on project timelines, technical needs, and travel requirements.
- Oversees job readiness, equipment availability, and personnel coverage for field work.
- Manages schedules dynamically in response to job changes, delays, or resource availability.
- Oversee inventory process for field technicians and ensure proper administrative tasks are performed to upkeep inventory accuracy
- Responsible for upkeeping tool inventory control processes and appropriate consumable expenditures
- Utilizes technical knowledge to use best judgment to determine the proper resources to fix technical issues or challenges with design and implementation
- Tracks open technical issues within all departments monitors status directly with the electrical and engineering departments with technical issues and distributing to the appropriate personnel
- Capable of reporting technical and commercial aspects related to services performed in the field, product packages and interpret as needed for clientele
SHOP & MANUFACTURING COORDINATION
- Oversee shop operations including fabrication, welding, and assembly of generator fuel system components and enclosures.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and electrical schematics related to products sold
- Coordinate manufacturing project timelines through the Shop Supervisor to meet customer delivery and field install schedules.
- Responsible for process adherence to material and parts posting activities on shop and manufacturing workorders
- Monitor shop productivity, quality control, and safety compliance.
- Ensure adequate material, staffing, and tooling levels for production demands.
OPERATIONAL COORDINATION, MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT
- Maintain a master schedule for all operational activities across field and shop.
- Approve work orders, production logs, job tickets, and timesheets.
- Host and run weekly meetings for production and field team supervisors
- Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to maintain inventory and job readiness.
- Track and report operational KPIs to management.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development of supervisory personnel
- Supervise and support all technical operations (field services, manufacturing, and shop operations) for Custom Site Solutions.
- Works with sales team to identify opportunities for additional sales during the project quoting and design phase to ensure customer needs are met and growth opportunities are maximized.
- Contributes through management and teamwork of the divisions the successful completion of Custom Site Solutions services, products sold or packaged.
- Supports the design and implementation of efficient workflows and operational processes for services performed and products manufactured and designed by Custom Site Solutions
- Follows process for maintaining work order files administration processes, uploading the proper documents in the folders
- Maintains compliance with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures for federal, state, county, and guidelines
- Responsible for ensure all team members collaborate and operate as a team player amongst all Custom Site Solutions personnel to ensure cohesiveness in meeting the mission, goals, and business strategies of the business.
