Title: Fabrication Machine Operator (FMO) I

SUMMARY
The Fabrication Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of CNC plasma cutting tables and press brake equipment to process raw steel and aluminum materials in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production requirements. This role supports the Material Processing Department in delivering conforming products for fuel tanks, generator enclosures, and related power generation components, while adhering to ISO-aligned quality management and safety systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities
· Operate CNC plasma cutting equipment and press brakes in accordance with documented work instructions and standard operating procedures
· Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and specifications to ensure product conformity
· Set up machines, tooling, and programs to meet material and dimensional requirements produced through CSS production software
· Verify material type, thickness, and identification to maintain traceability and compliance with production documentation
· Perform in-process and final inspections using appropriate measuring equipment to ensure adherence to tolerance and quality standards
· Monitor machine performance, including cut quality, forming accuracy, cycle times, and equipment condition; identify trends or deviations from standard performance
· Troubleshoot minor machine issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and process efficiency
· Perform routine maintenance activities such as cleaning, lubrication, consumable replacement (tips, nozzles, tooling), and basic calibration checks in accordance with maintenance procedures
· Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs, abnormalities, or downtime events to the department supervisor
· Identify and report defects, equipment malfunctions, or process issues; support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
· Record production data, inspection results, and nonconformances in accordance with quality management system (QMS) requirements
· Identify and report deviations, defects, or process issues; support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
· Maintain a clean and organized work area consistent with 5S and safety standards
· Follow all Custom Site Solutions safety policies and ISO-aligned procedures, including proper use of PPE
· Collaborate with CSS supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and continuous improvement objectives
REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in English verbal and written communications.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred
- 1 years of experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment and/or press brakes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems preferred
- Working knowledge of metal fabrication processes (cutting, forming)
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Experience with machine maintenance practices and troubleshooting preferred
- Material handling equipment experience (forklift, crane) required. Forklift Certification Preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certifications Preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8–12 hours per shift) on concrete surfaces
· Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to access materials, tooling, and equipment
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs independently and heavier loads with assistance or material handling equipment
· Frequent use of hands and arms for handling materials, operating controls, and performing machine setup and adjustments
· Ability to reach overhead and in various directions to load/unload materials and adjust machine components
· Visual acuity required for reading blueprints, measuring instruments, control panels, and inspecting cut and formed parts for quality defects
· Ability to distinguish colors, sparks, and material conditions relevant to plasma cutting operations
· Hearing ability sufficient to safely work in a manufacturing environment with high noise levels (with required hearing protection)
· Ability to safely work around moving machinery, sharp edges, hot materials, and sparks generated during cutting processes
· Tolerance for exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, dust, fumes, temperature fluctuations, and vibration
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and flame-resistant clothing as required
· Capability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes) if certified, including maintaining physical control and spatial awareness
· Ability to maintain alertness and situational awareness to ensure personal and team safety in a fast-paced production environment
