What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Staff Mixed-Signal/Analog IC Design Engineer position at Custom Silicon Solutions?
Company Description
Custom Silicon Solutions (CSS) is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in high-performance, low-power analog and mixed-signal ASIC solutions. We partner with customers in medical, industrial, aerospace, and high-reliability markets to deliver custom silicon that enables differentiated, high-value products.
At CSS, engineers work across the full ASIC lifecycle — from architecture and transistor-level design to silicon validation and production release. If you are motivated by solving complex signal-chain challenges and seeing your designs in production, CSS is a place to grow, lead, and make measurable impact.
Immediate Impact
As a Senior Mixed-Signal / Analog IC Design Engineer, you will be a key contributor within our core ASIC design team at our Irvine headquarters. You will work on custom projects that demand precision, robustness, and low-power performance.
You will collaborate closely with system architects, layout engineers, digital designers, and test engineers to deliver production-ready silicon. Your designs will directly impact customer products in demanding, real-world applications.
What You Can Expect
- Design and verify high-performance analog and mixed-signal circuits at block and system level
- Architect, simulate, and implement analog building blocks including amplifiers, references, oscillators, regulators, ADCs, DACs, and low-noise signal-conditioning front ends
- Perform comprehensive transistor-level simulations (DC, AC, transient, noise, corner, Monte Carlo)
- Conduct behavioral modeling and system-level analysis where appropriate
- Provide layout guidance and review physical implementation for performance and robustness
- Perform lab characterization, silicon bring-up, and debug
- Support production release through collaboration with test engineering to define and enable ATE production test development
- Participate in design reviews and document design methodology and performance results
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- Master’s degree preferred
- 5 years of relevant industry experience in analog and/or mixed-signal IC design
- Strong fundamentals in CMOS analog design and device physics
- Experience with analog and mixed-signal IP such as ADCs, DACs, amplifiers, references, regulators, oscillators, or PLLs
- Background with high-voltage circuit design techniques preferred
- Proficiency with Cadence design environment (schematic capture, simulation, layout review, verification/extraction)
- Experience with silicon validation and lab characterization
- Ability to optimize circuits for noise, linearity, power, area, and performance
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Familiarity with production test methodologies and mixed-signal DFT concepts
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000. CSS offers a competitive total rewards package including:
- Medical, Dental, and Vision plans
- 401(k) plan
- Paid holidays
- Paid sick leave
- Vacation time
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skills, and market conditions.
