Our mid-sized medical device client is looking for a seasoned engineer. The Product Development Engineer III with a mechanical focus, is responsible for development and implementation of new products, developed jointly with Process Development and Manufacturing Engineering, into full production, as well as supporting of continuation engineering on existing product lines. The role will be about 70% Project Management with about 30% technical.
Your role with the company :
Product Concept :
Basic understanding of customer / user and patient needs.
Proposes concepts and design iterations to address customer needs.
Selects and documents concepts to proceed to development and commercialization.
Generates intellectual property.
Builds and / or oversees prototype builds
Design & Development :
Translates customer requirements into engineering specifications.
Uses Design for Manufacturability to help optimize customer design and establishes initial processes.
Plans and manages creation of models to simulate and analyze device function.
Plans and manages development of test fixtures and methods.
Analyzes and optimizes design concepts through experimentation and other simulation.
Conducts risk assessment (e.g. DFMEA) of product concepts.
Conducts feasibility studies and documents results and recommendations in technical reports.
Verification & Validation :
Completes engineering documentation (e.g. Product & component specifications, BOMs, etc.) in readiness for design verification and validation.
Coordinates prototype and qualification builds.
Collaborates with other functions to execute project deliverables.
Work Conditions :
Use manual and light power tools to make and test prototypes.
Works in a development lab environment in addition to office.
May be in and around a tool shop
May be in a cleanroom or controlled environment area.

Interacts with others both in his / her department and across departments.
Develops a network of resources both intra- and interdepartmentally.
Strong collaboration skills
Works closely with customers to ensure optimized design and processes.
Desired Profile :
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, bio-medical engineering or similar field of study or equivalent experience
Minimum 4 years engineer experience in medical device industry.
Good working knowledge of the activities required in the product development cycle.

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong personal, interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-initiator in relation to project and / or project teams.
Ability to coach / mentor people in junior positions is a plus.
