Boxing Clerk

Custom Seafoods Processors, Inc. has been processing sport-caught fish and wild game on the Kenai Peninsula for 30 years. Within our 12,000 square foot facility, we can handle the influx of sport-caught fish as well as process a variety of fish species to serve the wholesale market simultaneously. We are looking for driven, highly motivated individuals to join our team and help us continue to be the preferred seafood processor on the peninsula. 

Job Summary:

Boxing Clerk is a customer-facing position, responsible for preparing customer orders for pickup/shipping and maintaining a clean and efficient workplace. This is a fast-paced position and requires attentiveness and flexibility. Customers are the lifeblood of our operation, and customer satisfaction is paramount, so accuracy and efficiency are a requirement. Due to the nature of this job, overtime and long hours may be required to ensure customer orders are fulfilled. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Package all orders specific to customer needs and requirements. 
• Ability to work in freezing temperatures to retrieve customer orders.
• Work directly with customers to determine the best course of action based on needs. 
• Responsible for active listening and communication when there are questions or tasks you don’t understand.
• Depending on the season, overtime will be expected within this department, including early morning, evenings, weekends, and late-night shifts.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to problem solve. 
• Repeatedly lift 60 pounds throughout each day.
• You need to be able or willing to learn how to differentiate species of fish (red, silver, halibut, rockfish, cod, etc.).
• Willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain active listening skills. 
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Education & Experience: 

• Basic writing and math skills.
• Previous packing experience is a plus! 
• On-the-job-training provided. We welcome employees with no prior experience or training in this field. 

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Must be able to repeatedly lift and move up to 60 pounds.
• Flexibility Required. Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, long shifts, overtime, and late-night shifts.
