What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Engineering Manager position at Custom Metal Fabrication Facility?
We are seeking a proactive hands-on Senior Engineering Manager with a desire for Engineering as well as Operations leadership to lead and own design engineering operations and fabrication performance in a growing custom metal fabrication company. This role is ideal for an Engineering leader who enjoys leading a Design Engineering team and thrives in seeing custom designed metal products coming to fruition on the shop floor. This role is for you if you enjoy leading integrated design engineering as well as fabrication operations, building strong cross functional teams, and driving design engineering and operational performance and improvements.
What You’ll Do
· Own design engineering and production scheduling, workflow, productivity and on-time delivery of engineering designs and fabricated products
· Staff, lead and develop the design engineering and fabrication team with clear expectations and accountability
· Own equipment, facilities and grounds maintenance
· Ensure products meet customer needs as well as engineering and quality standards
· Coordinate plant supplies, facilities services, materials, inventory, shipping, and receiving
· Drive continuous product and process improvement and development, safety, and operational efficiency across both Design Engineering and fabrication
· Member of the company lead team
What We’re Looking For
· 5 years proven success leading design engineering and production teams in metal fabrication or custom manufacturing. A background as a hands-on metal fabricator is ideal.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred)
· Proven track record as a design engineering and operations leader
· Strong experience with scheduling, quality control, and shop floor leadership as well as process development and appropriate equipment selection
· A hands-on problem solver who develops and improves products, processes and motivates teams
· Applicable theoretical and practical knowledge in mechanical engineering, metals engineering and various metal working processes
· Versed in common 3-D modeling and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); ERP experience a plus
· Proven success in applying Lean principles
Success in This Role (First 12 Months)
· On-time delivery and engineering as well as production reliability improve
· Design engineering and manufacturing quality issues are quickly resolved
· The design engineering and production team operates safely, efficiently, and with clear accountability
· Pro-active and preventive equipment, facilities and grounds maintenance plan in place
Salary : $125,000 - $150,000
