Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines using Fanuc controls or similar systems
- Develop and modify CNC programs utilizing CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and manual programming techniques
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications, and technical drawings to ensure accurate machining
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions
- Maintain optimal tooling setups by selecting appropriate tooling and tooling adjustments for various materials including plastics injection molding components
- Conduct routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration to ensure consistent performance
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools for assembly or repair tasks as needed
- Adhere to safety protocols by operating forklifts safely and using personal protective equipment during machining operations
Experience
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or in a similar manufacturing role with a strong understanding of machining processes
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with CAM programming software is highly desirable
- Solid knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques is a plus
- Hands-on experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with Fanuc controls or equivalent systems
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) accurately
- Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations in machining tasks
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is advantageous but not required
- Strong mechanical aptitude combined with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues efficiently
