Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for coating by performing surface cleaning, sanding, and surface preparation tasks in accordance with construction standards.
- Operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns and airless sprayers, to apply consistent and high-quality coatings on metal parts.
- Interpret production documents and technical specifications to ensure proper coating procedures are followed.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment to assemble, fabricate, or modify parts as needed before coating.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts, maintaining proper materials handling techniques in compliance with safety protocols.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect coated surfaces for uniformity, color accuracy, and defect detection.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment to meet quality standards in production finishing and industrial painting processes.
- Follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements such as respirators, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing at all times during coating operations.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols including respiratory protection and PPE use to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by participating in continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing waste and increasing efficiency.
Qualifications
- Prior experience with powder coating or industrial painting is highly preferred; familiarity with conventional spraying methods is a plus.
- Basic math skills for measuring materials and adjusting equipment settings accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge including the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques.
- Experience operating forklifts, or warehouse equipment is advantageous for materials handling tasks.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing instructions and technical documents accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent visual color comparison skills for quality control purposes.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects safely, and perform repetitive tasks efficiently in a manufacturing setting.
