What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overhead Crane Service Sales position at CUSTOM CRANE SYSTEMS?
Crane Service Sales Professional (SSP)
Overhead Crane Services | Startup | People‑Led, Not PE‑Owned
Who We Are
We’re a crane company built by crane people, not private equity, not spreadsheets, not short‑term exits. We started this company because we believe the crane service industry deserves something better: trusted advisors, real collaboration, and solutions that actually fit the application.
Our purpose is simple and serious:
Everyone has a place to thrive.
That applies to our customers and our team.
Our Niche (How We’re Different)
We don’t parachute in late with a quote and hope it sticks.
We:
- Get brought in early
- Become part of the customer’s team
- Collaborating with maintenance, engineering, and leadership
- Use interactive drawings within facility layouts
- Follow process‑driven execution
- Act as a trusted advisor, not a transactional salesperson
Our Guarantee:
*The right solution for your application—period.
The Role: Crane Service Sales Professional (SSP)
This role is ideal for someone who understands cranes from the inside out and wants to help build something from the ground up.
You’ll own your territory like a business—prospecting, opening doors, solving problems, and building long‑term relationships based on trust and execution.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Initially support the business by performing hands‑on service work, with a clear path to transitioning into a full-time Sales Service Professional (SSP) role as the service business grows.
· Build and grow the service business by identifying, securing, and expanding inspection accounts, repair work, and site service contracts
- Develop new business through direct outreach, door‑knocking, referrals, and networking
- Meet face‑to‑face with plant managers, maintenance leaders, engineers, and decision‑makers
- Act as a consultative partner, not a quote‑dropper
- Manage opportunities through a process‑driven sales approach
- Build long‑term accounts, not one‑off wins
Who We’re Looking For
This is not an entry‑level sales role. We’re looking for someone who brings credibility on day one.
Ideal Background
- Overhead crane industry experience is a must
- Service technician, inspector, or field experience is a must
- Proven B2B sales experience (industrial services, MRO, manufacturing, or construction)
- Entrepreneurial mindset—you’re comfortable building, not inheriting
- Not afraid to knock on doors, start conversations, and earn trust
- Strong communicator who follows through
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary performance‑based commission
- Real influence in shaping how the company grows
- Leadership that understands cranes, not just numbers
- No private equity pressure—long‑term thinking over short‑term exits
- A culture where your experience and ideas matter
- The opportunity to grow with the company as it scales
Why Join Us?

- Being just another sales number
- Selling solutions you don’t believe in
- Working for leadership that’s never been in the field
…and you want to help build something meaningful with people who know the industry, this may be the place you’ve been looking for.
If that resonates with you, we’d like to talk.
