Custom Craft Poultry is an Arkansas based poultry producer committed to delivering high-quality products to our customers while ensuring sustainable and efficient operations. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced Logistics Manager to join our team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing the movement, storage, and distribution of poultry products across various channels.

Position Overview:

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end logistics process, ensuring that all aspects of the supply chain, from procurement to final delivery, are streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective. This includes managing inventory, coordinating transportation, optimizing warehouse operations, and ensuring the timely and safe delivery of products from vendors and to customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics, supply chain management, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges in the food production and distribution industry.

Fresh poultry is sourced from vendors withing ~500 miles of our Batesville and Little Rock locations. Product is picked up from vendors and moved to Custom Craft as refrigerated goods. Finished products are shipped both fresh and frozen to various customers across the United States.

This role is responsible for ~150 different loads per week. Most will be fresh and planned in advance, but some will require real time booking. Availability and follow-up are key to this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Logistics Coordination & Planning:
  • Oversee the daily logistics operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of poultry products from vendors and to customers, distributors, and retailers.
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely receipt of materials and delivery of finished products.
  • Ensure all logistical activities comply with health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Schedule pickup and delivery appointments as required to meet vendor and customer expectations.
  • This role will be involved in the scheduling of our operations, coordinator of orders and communication with internal and external key players. This role will act as the back up to the Supply Chain Coordinator and vice-versa.
  • Transportation & Fleet Management:
  • Oversee transportation operations, including managing third-party carriers and coordinating fleet management.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with transportation providers to ensure competitive rates and reliable service.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics, including delivery times, cost per pound and accuracy.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution:
  • Address any logistical issues or delays that may arise, including product shortages, transportation delays, or supply chain disruptions.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate risks to product delivery timelines.
  • Customer Focus:
  • Collaborate closely with customer service and sales teams to ensure customer satisfaction by meeting delivery timelines and product quality standards.
  • Address and resolve any customer complaints or concerns related to product delivery or logistical issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably in the food production or poultry industry.
  • Strong computer and communication skills are required. Excel is the primary form of communication and must be maintained.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, transportation logistics, and warehouse operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, including food safety standards, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.

Travel

· Quarterly travel to processing plants is typical.

· There will be a training period of 2-3 weeks at each location to fully understand product flow, capabilities, develop relationships and understand the impact freight plays on the success of the operation.
