Auto Body Repair Technician

Custom Collision Specialties Inc. is seeking 2 experienced, detail-driven Auto Body Repair Technicians to restore vehicles to pre-loss condition with precision, safety, and pride. You will diagnose damage, perform structural and cosmetic repairs, and complete high-quality refinishing to deliver vehicles that look great and drive safely. This role reports to the Shop Manager and works closely with estimators, parts, and paint teams in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all phases of collision repair, including dent repair, panel replacement, sectioning rails, welded body panel work, frame pulls, and bumper repair/refinish.
• Complete mechanical-related collision repairs such as suspension, steering, exhaust, cooling components, and related safety systems.
• Conduct restoration work as needed, including fiberglass repair and fitment for specialty or classic vehicles.
• Accurately disassemble and reassemble vehicles; document hardware, fasteners, and clips to OEM standards for proper reinstallation.
• Use OEM repair procedures, measuring systems, welders, spot welders, riveters, plastic repair tools, and other shop equipment safely and correctly.
• Inspect repairs for structural integrity, alignment, panel gaps, weld quality, and finish consistency; perform quality control at each stage.
• Collaborate with estimators on repair plans, supplements, and parts needs; communicate proactively about timelines and changes.
• Maintain a clean, organized bay; follow shop safety protocols, PPE requirements, and hazardous waste handling.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of hands-on auto body repair experience with proven capability across structural, cosmetic, and light mechanical collision work.
• Proficiency with MIG welding, panel bonding, plastic repair, and structural sectioning techniques.
• Ability to read and follow OEM repair procedures and use measuring systems/jigs.
• Strong diagnostic skills for collision-related mechanical issues (e.g., suspension and exhaust).
• Valid authorization to work in the U.S.; English language proficiency.
• Reliable transportation and a professional set of personal tools.
• Consistent punctuality and dependable attendance.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• I-CAR training or certifications (Platinum/ProLevel) or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with fiberglass repair, restorations, and classic/specialty builds.
• Familiarity with modern ADAS considerations during collision repair (sensors, brackets, calibration prerequisites).
• Aluminum repair experience and proper isolation/clean-room practices.
• Frame machine operation and advanced measuring systems expertise.
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills with a commitment to craftsmanship.
