Job Summary
Custer Products Ltd. is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator to support day-to-day purchasing, supplier follow-up, inventory planning, and inventory control.
The primary goal of this position is to help ensure we have the right inventory at the right time while reducing preventable stockouts, excess inventory, emergency purchases, and unnecessary cash tied up in stock.
This is a hands-on position that works closely with Production, Shipping/Receiving, Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and management.
Responsibilities
- Review inventory levels, open sales orders, sales history, usage, and upcoming demand.
- Help determine when products and components need to be reordered.
- Calculate reorder quantities based on usage, lead times, current stock, open demand, and supplier minimums.
- Create and manage purchase orders in Sage 100.
- Confirm supplier pricing, quantities, lead times, ship dates, and expected delivery dates.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on late or at-risk deliveries.
- Keep expected receipt dates and purchasing information current.
- Communicate supplier delays or shortages that may affect production or customer orders.
- Work with Shipping/Receiving to resolve quantity, damage, or inventory discrepancies.
- Review slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and dead inventory.
- Help identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary inventory and free up cash.
- Work with management and Finance on large or unusual purchases.
- Resolve supplier pricing, quality, quantity, and delivery issues.
- Coordinate with Production to help ensure required materials and components are available.
- Help improve inventory accuracy, reorder settings, and purchasing processes.
- Support future barcode, scanning, and inventory-control improvements.
Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing, inventory, supply chain, materials management, manufacturing, distribution, or a related role preferred.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Comfortable working with inventory data, quantities, sales history, lead times, and costs.
- ERP or inventory-management system experience preferred.
- Sage 100 experience is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Strong vendor communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance inventory availability with cost and cash flow.
- Ability to work independently while communicating issues and risks clearly.
- Comfortable being accountable to measurable expectations.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
